Evidence-based parenting

Much of parenting advice is based on anecdotal evidence, shared from well meaning parents or outdated advice shared between generations. Parents are desperate to do the right thing, do what is best for their children in the long-term, but they are never taught the basics of brain development and developmental psychology that could provide a better understanding of children and their needs and limitations as they develop.

I am starting a vlog series on evidence based parenting. This will form 10 minute mini-interviews with psychologists and neuroscientists in the field, discussing their research, its applications and, where appropriate, the evidence-based parenting they implement with their own children.

How will it work?

  1. You will book a session that suits your schedule

  2. I will send you some questions to prepare

  3. We will meet for a recorded zoom/teams meeting

  4. I will edit the recording to make an engaging piece

  5. You will have a chance to approve/ask for more edits

  6. I will post to social media platforms and share as widely as you are happy with

How do I benefit?

  • Public engagement in your research to a wide audience

  • An edited piece of promo for your personal use

  • An engaged audience for future recruitment, or advocacy

  • Potential future partnerships and paid consultancy

What do I do next?

If you are interested in taking part, drop me a DM or email me on michele.veldsman@gmail.com

Please share with your students and colleagues in developmental neuroscience and psychology.
